●Dwarf
●Gnome
●Human
●Night Elf

This leaves a lot of variety for the player. With each race having unique looks and passives to choose from.

Draenei

The Draenei are an ancient race that was released during the TBC expansion in World of Warcraft. The Draenei’s skills and racial’s are as follows:

Draenei’s strengths are through parties, as their buffs are perfect for partying and raiding. This includes PVP as hit rating is an important skill for PVP.

Dwarves

The dwarves are powerful skilled marksmen and warriors. Their racial abilities and passives are as follows:

●Frost Resistance - This is an increase of Frost Resistance by 10
●Gun Specialization - Gun skills are increased by 5
●Find Treasure - A small kind of niche passive which allows Dwarves to sense nearby treasure and marks it on the minimap

The Dwarves are incredible hunters as their gun skill passive increases damage output. They also make incredible tanks with their Stoneform ability. In PvP, they are smaller targets to hit. This may sound small, but it’s a large benefit.

Gnomes

The Gnomes are the smallest race in World of Warcraft. Their magical prowess makes them small but deadly. The Gnomes racial abilities and passives are as follows:

●Expansive Mind - Strongest passive for any Mage. This increases intellect by 5%
●Arcane Resistance - Increases Arcane Resistance by 10
●Escape Artist - Remove any immobilization effects including movement speed reductions
●Engineering Specialization - Engineering is increased by 15

The Gnomes size makes them extremely difficult to target in PvP. This makes them difficult to pin down. Their passive Expansive Mind makes Gnomes a top pick for mages on the Alliance side.

Humans

Humans are your generic race in an MMO. They may be vanilla but their passives and racial abilities make them a viable pick for any role. Here is a breakdown of their racial passives and abilities:

●Diplomacy - Passive reputation gain is increased by 10% (Massive passive for reputation grind in TBC)
●Perception - An active ability that increases stealth detection for 20 seconds
●Sword Specialization - Increases sword skills by 5. This includes two-handed swords

Humans are brilliant tanks and priest healers. Since holy priests use spirit to heal, “The Human Spirit” passive directly increases heals. As for tanks their hit rating because of their specializations increases making it easier to tank.

Night Elves

Night elves are an old race based in Kalimdor. They’re unique in the sense that they are the only race on the Alliance side who can play as a Druid. With their sneaky passives and actives, they make a silent addition to the Alliance. Their racial abilities are as follows:

●Nature Resistance - Decreases Nature damage received by 1%
●Quickness - Increases chance to dodge attacks by 2%. This also increases passive movement speed by 2%

Night Elves are the agile class of the Alliance which makes them excellent rogues. In PvP, they are average as they receive a slight bonus to crit and haste.

Horde Race Breakdown

Now that we’ve discussed the Alliance races, we need to focus on the Horde. The horde is broken up into 5 playable races namely:

●Blood Elves
●Undead
●Taurens
●Orcs
●Trolls

They all have special and unique traits just like the Alliance races, so let’s break them down further.

Blood Elves

Blood Elves are the outstanding horde characters. Compared to their fellow horde mates they look more delicate. However, they are incredibly powerful with their passive and active racial abilities, namely:

●Arcane Torrent - This active ability silences nearby opponents for 2 seconds. This also returns partial mana.
●Arcane Affinity - Enchanting skill is increased by 5
●Mana Tap - Active ability that reduces a target’s mana whilst charging the caster with Arcane energy for 10 mins. This can stack 3 times
●Magic Resistance - All resistances are passively increased by 5

Blood elves brought about the Paladin class for the horde and are exceptional tanks as a result. They make excellent mages as they’re able to gain mana from their targets. Their silencing racial also makes them extremely powerful for PvP.

Orcs

The Orcs are a powerful melee class forged in war. Their racial abilities are as follows:

●Blood Fury - This active racial increases melee attack power by 25% for 15 seconds. This powerful buff comes with a setback of 50% healing reduction for 25 seconds.
●Axe Specialization - Skill with axes is permanently increased by 5. This also works for two-handed axes.
●Command - Damage dealt by hunter and warlock pets increased by 5%
●Hardiness - Increased chance to resist stun effects by 25%

Orcs are the strongest warriors due to their racial abilities. They can resist stuns and can deal out high damage, all of this is great for PvP. They make excellent tanks and warriors for PvE as well. They can also play as shamans, however, they’re best known for Warriors, Warlocks, and hunters. This is because of the increased damage by pets and extra attack power.

Trolls

Trolls are the ancient race of World of Warcraft. They are exceptionally skilled in magic. Troll’s racial abilities are:

●Beast Slaying - Passive damage against beasts is increased by 5%
●Berserking - Active ability that increases casting and attack speed. The buff is according to how injured the caster is. The more hurt - the stronger the buff. Starting at 10% at full health going all the way to 30%. This lasts 10 seconds.
●Regeneration - Health regeneration is increased by 10%. Additionally, they may regen 10% of their HP during combat
●Throwing Specialization - Skill with throwing weapons is passively increased by 5
●Bow Specialization - Skill with bows is increased by 5 passively

Trolls make for excellent hunters and mages. With their attack speed and casting buff, they can seriously pump out damage quickly. They also make fine Warrior Tanks as they can regen HP during combat faster than any other race.

Taurens

Taurens are closer to nature and as a result, take on devastating roles as Druids for the Horde. Taurens are peaceful and are always striving for it instead of conflict. Their racial abilities are as follows:

●Brawn - Passively have 2% increased critical damage and healing
●Cultivation - Herbalism skill increased by 15. As an additional bonus Taurens gather herbs faster.
●Nature Resistance - Reduces nature damage taken by 1%
●Endurance - Passively increases your stamina per level
●War Stomp - Active ability that stuns up to 5 enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds.

Taurens make exceptional tanks. With War Stomp and Endurance making them the perfect race to handle most dungeons. This in combination with Druid bear form, makes for very effective tanks. In PvP, their inherent survivability with stuns makes them powerful and harder to take down.

Undead

The Undead is a forsaken nation. Their home is in Tirisfal Glades. Their fate is a tragic one, filled with deep lore as is all the other races in World of Warcraft. What makes the Undead extremely powerful are their racial abilities and passives, namely:

●Shadow Resistance - Reduces shadow damage received by 1%
●Touch of the Grave - Passively, the Undead’s attacks have a chance to drain the target. This deals with damage scaling per level. The Undead heal for the damage dealt
●Will of the Forsaken - Removes charms, sleep or fear effects. The drawback is that this ability shares a cooldown with WoW TBC items that may have the same effect for 30 seconds. Also, they can permanently breathe underwater
●Cannibalize - An activatable racial ability that allows the Undead to consume a humanoid corpse. This regenerates 7% total health and mana every 2 seconds for 10 seconds.
Undead are known for their amazing strength as Rogues. This makes them extremely powerful in PvP. With their racial ability, they can regenerate health from corpses and mobs making them very strong in PvP.
