WoW Forever Pre-Raid BiS: Best Gear & Dungeons for Every Class

Reaching Level 60 in WoW Forever is only the beginning. Before entering your first raid, you'll need to replace leveling gear, improve your key stats, and prepare equipment for your role.

The first three raids—Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia's Lair—are scheduled to open on December 9, 2026. That gives players roughly five weeks to get ready.

However, WoW Forever is not identical to Classic WoW. Changes to classes, talents, and equipment mean older Classic Pre-Raid BiS lists may not always apply.

This guide covers the key stats for each role, the best dungeons to farm, and what you should prepare before your first raid.

What Does Pre-Raid BiS Mean in WoW Forever?

Pre-Raid BiS means the best equipment you can obtain before entering raid content. These items usually come from dungeons, quests, professions, and other non-raid sources.

Unlike traditional Classic WoW, WoW Forever introduces class adjustments, additional talents, and new or modified equipment. Beta testing also did not reach Level 60, so not every endgame item and dungeon drop was verified before launch.

For now, treat Classic gear lists as references rather than confirmed recommendations. Focus on your build's stat priorities and update your gear choices as more live-game information becomes available.

WoW Forever Pre-Raid Stat Priorities

Your role determines which stats matter most. Use this table when comparing dungeon drops and deciding whether an item is worth farming.

Role Main Stat Priorities
Tank Stamina, Armor, Defense, Threat
Healer Healing Power, Intellect, Mana Regeneration
Melee DPS Weapon Damage, Hit, Critical Strike
Caster DPS Spell Damage, Spell Hit, Critical Strike
Hunter Agility, Ranged Weapon Damage, Hit

These are general priorities, not fixed stat formulas. Your specialization, talents, and current equipment can change the value of individual stats.

Class-Specific Gear Priorities

Different classes need different equipment combinations. Use these as starting points and adjust them to your build.

Class Important Stats Equipment Priorities
Warrior Strength, Hit, Crit, Stamina Strong weapons and role-specific armor
Paladin Strength, Intellect, Stamina, Spell Power Weapons, shields, healing or damage gear
Hunter Agility, Hit, Attack Power Ranged weapons and Agility gear
Rogue Agility, Hit, Attack Power, Crit Daggers or swords based on build
Priest Healing Power, Spell Damage, Intellect, Spirit Caster weapons and healing gear
Mage Spell Damage, Spell Hit, Crit, Intellect Caster weapons and spell-focused accessories
Warlock Spell Damage, Spell Hit, Intellect, Stamina Caster weapons and spell-focused armor
Shaman Spell Power, Healing Power, Agility, Strength Gear suited to Enhancement, Elemental, or Restoration
Druid Spell Power, Healing Power, Agility, Strength, Stamina Leather armor and specialization-specific weapons

A Restoration Shaman, for example, needs very different gear from an Enhancement Shaman. Always choose equipment for your actual raid role.

Best WoW Forever Dungeons to Farm for Pre-Raid Gear

Dungeons are among your main sources of pre-raid equipment. Focus on high-level instances that offer upgrades for your weapons, armor, and accessories.

Dungeon Level Range Main Reason to Farm
Blackrock Depths High-level Equipment drops and quest rewards
Upper Blackrock Spire Endgame Weapon and armor upgrades
Lower Blackrock Spire Endgame Equipment and quest rewards
Dire Maul Endgame Different wings, caster gear, and tribute runs
Scholomance Endgame Caster, healer, and armor upgrades
Stratholme Endgame Weapons, armor, and accessories
Blackmaw Hold 55–60 New high-level dungeon
Shaper's Terrace 58–60 New Titan facility and endgame encounters

Which Dungeons Should You Prioritize?

  • Blackrock Depths: A good starting point for Level 60 gearing. Its many encounters offer different upgrade opportunities, and you can complete useful quests while farming.

  • Upper and Lower Blackrock Spire: Both offer additional equipment and quest opportunities. They are also relevant to Onyxia's Lair attunement.

  • Dire Maul: Its East, West, and North wings offer different rewards, including caster and melee equipment. Tribute runs can also provide opportunities to earn gold.

  • Scholomance and Stratholme: Useful for filling specific equipment gaps. Go in with a target list rather than farming every boss without a clear goal.

  • Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace: These new dungeons are worth exploring before the first raids. Blackmaw Hold is a Level 55–60 furbolg city in Azshara, while Shaper's Terrace is a Level 58–60 Titan facility in northern Un'Goro Crater. Their exact loot tables should be verified through live-game runs.

A Five-Week WoW Forever Pre-Raid Gear Plan

If you reach Level 60 early, use the time before December 9 to improve your gear gradually.

  1. Week 1 – Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire: Replace weak leveling equipment and complete useful dungeon quests.

  2. Week 2 – Dire Maul: Target missing gear slots and build up your gold reserves.

  3. Week 3 – Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace: Explore the new dungeons and identify potential upgrades.

  4. Week 4 – Scholomance and Stratholme: Focus on specific items your character still needs.

  5. Week 5 – Final preparation: Finish enchants, consumables, resistance gear, and remaining upgrades.

This is a suggested route, not a strict requirement. If another dungeon offers an important upgrade for your class, prioritize it.

To save time, avoid repeatedly farming bosses whose drops are no longer useful. Run with a consistent group when possible, complete relevant quests, and keep materials that may be useful for crafting.

How to Tell Whether a Gear Drop Is an Upgrade

A higher item level or a longer list of stats doesn't automatically mean better equipment. Before replacing an item, check:

  • Stats: Does it improve the attributes your build needs?

  • Hit and Defense: Will you lose important offensive or defensive stats?

  • Weapon quality: Does the new weapon offer a meaningful damage improvement?

  • Class requirements: Is it suitable for your armor proficiency, weapon type, and specialization?

  • Encounter use: Could it be useful for a resistance set or a specific boss?

Your best pre-raid setup is the combination that supports your role, not necessarily the one with the highest item level.

Other Raid Preparation: Legacy, Professions, and Consumables

Gear isn't the only part of endgame preparation.

  • Legacy System: WoW Forever's account-wide Legacy System includes Legacy Challenges, Perks, and Rewards. Explore its progression options alongside your equipment upgrades.

  • Professions: Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, and Tailoring can help with crafted gear. Engineering offers additional useful items, while Enchanting improves equipment you plan to keep.

  • Enchants and consumables: Prepare weapon and armor enchants, healing and mana potions, food buffs, and sharpening stones where applicable.

  • Resistance gear: Keep relevant resistance equipment and consumables for encounters that require them.

Crafting materials and consumables can become expensive. Compare crafted items with your current gear before spending heavily. If gathering takes too much time, SSEGold also offers WoW Forever profession material packages.

First WoW Forever Raids: Release Date and Requirements

The first three Level 60 raids are scheduled for December 9, 2026:

  • Barrow Deeps: 10 players, 8 bosses, located in Mount Hyjal.

  • Hyjal Summit: 20 players, 13 encounters, located in Mount Hyjal.

  • Onyxia's Lair: 40 players, located in Dustwallow Marsh.

Don't Forget Onyxia's Lair Attunement

Onyxia's Lair requires the Drakefire Amulet. The attunement questline includes encounters in Lower Blackrock Spire and Upper Blackrock Spire, including defeating General Drakkisath to obtain the final required item.

Make sure you complete the questline and have the Drakefire Amulet in your inventory before entering. It does not need to be equipped.

How Much Gold Do You Need Before Raiding?

There is no fixed gold requirement. Your expenses depend on your gear, professions, and how much you farm.

Common costs include:

  • Crafted gear and profession materials

  • Enchants and consumables

  • Profession training

  • Repairs after dungeon runs

  • Equipment upgrades from other players

Spend gold on meaningful upgrades rather than replacing several items for only minor stat improvements. If you want to spend less time farming currency, SSEGold offers cheap WoW Forever Gold as a good option.

WoW Forever Pre-Raid BiS FAQ

Is there an official WoW Forever Pre-Raid BiS list?

Blizzard has not published a complete Pre-Raid BiS list for every class. Because Forever introduces equipment and talent changes, verify item stats and live-game drops before following a specific ranking.

What is the best dungeon for WoW Forever pre-raid gear?

There is no single best dungeon for every class. Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire are useful starting points, while Dire Maul, Scholomance, and Stratholme offer further equipment opportunities. Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace are also important new dungeons.

When do WoW Forever raids open?

The first three raids—Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia's Lair—are scheduled for December 9, 2026.

How many players are needed for the first raids?

Barrow Deeps requires 10 players, Hyjal Summit requires 20, and Onyxia's Lair requires 40.

Do you need the Drakefire Amulet for Onyxia's Lair?

Yes. Complete the attunement questline and carry the Drakefire Amulet in your inventory. It does not need to be equipped.

With the first raids opening on December 9, focus on building a balanced pre-raid set and getting your character ready for group content
