World of Warcraft Forever Key Dates & Changes Before Launch
The WoW Forever stress test on October 21 was the last window where the game opened to anyone with an account and no subscription. Four hours, starting zones only, every character wiped. It answered one narrow question about login load, which is why the key dates below now matter more than the test itself.
Anyone who would rather spend launch week leveling than farming copper for training and a mount covers that in advance through SSEGold's cheap WoW Forever gold, because Forever opens on fresh realms with a fresh economy and nothing carried over. What follows is the calendar, the system changes that catch returning players out, and the decisions that cost a reroll if they get made late.
WoW Forever Key Dates From Now to Launch
|
Date (2026) |
What happens |
|

|

|
October 27 to November 3 |

|
November 4, 3 p.m. PST |

|
November 4 to 11 |

|
December 9 |

|
Winter 2026 |
Hardcore ruleset, no calendar day announced |
|
Spring 2027 |
First major content update |
|
Summer 2027 |
Second major update, including a revamped iconic raid |
The key dates in that table are fixed, and the release date has not moved since BlizzCon. Two rows get misread more than the rest. Name reservation is not part of launch, it comes with a paid upgrade and applies only to the account that owns it. Invite-A-Friend is the opposite: the friend needs nothing, but somebody has to own a pack to hand out the code. Codes went out by email from October 20 and expire after November 11, which makes launch week the only free window the game will ever have.
Launch Time in Your Time Zone
Blizzard gave one time, not one per region, so every row below is the same instant.
|
Region |
Local launch time |
|
US Pacific |
Wednesday, November 4, 3:00 p.m. |
|
US Eastern |
Wednesday, November 4, 6:00 p.m. |
|
UK and Ireland |
Wednesday, November 4, 11:00 p.m. |
|
Central Europe |
Thursday, November 5, 12:00 a.m. |
|
Istanbul and Moscow |
Thursday, November 5, 2:00 a.m. |
|
Singapore, Shanghai, Taipei |
Thursday, November 5, 7:00 a.m. |
|
Seoul and Tokyo |
Thursday, November 5, 8:00 a.m. |
|
Sydney and Melbourne |
Thursday, November 5, 10:00 a.m. |
|
Auckland |
Thursday, November 5, 12:00 p.m. |
Daylight saving is the trap. US clocks go back on November 1, so launch day runs on Pacific standard time, which is 23:00 UTC. Europe left summer time on October 25, so the UK is on GMT and central Europe on CET. A conversion copied from a September announcement or an October beta session will be an hour off, which is how guilds end up an hour apart on the first night.
The System Changes That Decide Your First Night
|
Change |
What it means in practice |
|
Realmless by ruleset |
No server list. You pick Normal, PvP, or Roleplaying in your region, with Hardcore later. Grouping does not cross rulesets. |
|
Two-part names |
First name plus surname, unique per region. Duplicate first names exist now, so a reservation is about being recognized. |
|
Level 60, permanently |
No expansion will obsolete the climb. Legacy is account-wide: up to 65 points earned, with each character spending 16 at launch across Adventure, Professions, and Resourcefulness. |
|
Skyborne and Zephras Isle |
Faction chosen at creation. Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Druid on both sides, Shaman for the Horde, Mage for the Alliance. Levels 1 to 12 happen on the island, and the race needs the $29.99 pack. |
|
Classic friction, modern client |
No flying, no level scaling, no dungeon finder. HD or SD models, opt-in transmog, and gamepad support on top. |
|
Talents and dual spec |
Talents open at 10, with rows at 11, 21, and 31 plus a new 16-point milestone. Dual spec arrives at 40. |
Two of those deserve more than a row. The ruleset choice behaves like a permanent one, because grouping does not cross rulesets and no way to move a character between them has been announced. Picking PvP because a friend did, then finding out the friend wanted Normal, is how people end up rerolling at 40. The name system is the other quiet change: with surnames in play, a reservation buys a full identity rather than a label.
What Ships on Day One
- Four new zones: Mount Hyjal for endgame leveling and the way into both new raids, Shen'dralas, Riverglades for the mid-30s to mid-40s with more than 150 quests, and Zephras Isle for the Skyborne start.
- More than 1,000 new quests spread across levels 1 to 60 rather than stacked at the cap.
- Nine dungeons: Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, the dig above Whelgar's Excavation, City of Dalaran, Blackmaw Hold, Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison, and Shaper's Terrace.
- Six new race and class combinations: Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, and Undead Paladin.
- One new battleground, the Darkspear Islands, a 15v15 map built on control points and flag capture.
- More than 600 new recipes, plus a campsite system grown out of the old cooking fire.
The new combinations need no pack, which matters more than the Skyborne for anyone playing on a subscription alone. Only the new race and its starting island sit behind a purchase, and the packs add cosmetics, beta access, and game time on top. The content roadmap is worth reading before deciding which of it matters, since everything after December runs on that schedule rather than on launch day.
What Is Not There on November 4
- No WoW Token, so gold has no official cash conversion.
- No paid level boost.
- No character, gold, or item transfer from Classic Era, Anniversary realms, or retail.
- No Hardcore ruleset until later in the winter.
- No flying mounts, no level scaling, no automatic dungeon finder.
The transfer line is the one that costs people money. Anyone who assumed a Classic Era character would walk into Forever should plan for a fresh level 1; if Blizzard announces transfers later, that is a bonus rather than a plan. The same goes for gold. Every coin in circulation on launch day gets generated that week, which makes early gold expensive in time and cheap in usefulness.
Decisions to Lock In Before Launch
- Ruleset and faction, agreed with the people you actually play with. Nothing else on this list is as hard to undo.
- Class, picked for the leveling route rather than the endgame tier list. Level 60 balance is not settled.
- Profession pair, because the campsite system turns crafted objects into repairs and vendors, which matters in the first two weeks.
- Pack or no pack, decided on the real benefit. Say no and name reservation is off the table.
- Launch week budget, in gold rather than dollars. Riding plus a level 40 mount runs about 100 gold before reputation discounts, the epic mount about 1,000, and training sits on top.
Bottom Line
The key dates are fixed and few: beta closes October 23, names open October 27, servers open November 4 at 23:00 UTC, raids follow December 9. The changes are fewer than the patch notes suggest and heavier than they look, because the ruleset replaces the server and the level cap never moves. Get those right, arrive with gold for training and a mount, and launch week is a leveling race instead of a logistics problem.
