FFXIV Aloalo Island Guide: All Routes Explained
Aloalo Island in FFXIV is a special area called a Variant Dungeon. It's not a typical island you can freely explore, but rather a challenging dungeon. Unlike most FFXIV dungeons, Aloalo Island has a tropical setting filled with beaches, lush greenery, and first-look friendly faces.
To unlock Aloalo Island, you'll need to be in Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.51 and talk to an NPC named Shallow Moor in Old Sharlayan to start the quest "Stranger From Paradise." This dungeon is known for its cosmetic rewards, including the Free Spirit's Glamour Set and other glamour items such as the Spectral Statice mount, a beautiful butterfly mount. But this can only be obtained by completing all 12 Aloalo Conservation Records, which are different endings based on the dungeon mechanisms activated and paths taken during the dungeon run. Buy FFXIV Gil from SSEGold if you need it when playing this game.
Why are there 12 variations? Because throughout the dungeon, you'll encounter points where you have to make decisions, like choosing a left or right path, interacting with objects, or talking to NPCs in a specific way. Sometimes, even your dialogue options with NPCs can affect the route. All these result in hidden secrets and multiple endings. Here in this guide, we’ll explain each of the 12 routes and learn how to unlock the hidden path.
Firstly, there are 3 main paths. When taking the left path, the boss and mechanics is:
A Not-quite Deserted Island: Decline Matsya's request to fish. Do not assist Zozone (the Lalafell NPC), allowing him to flee once his health reaches 0.
The First Settlers Of Aloalo Island: Decline Matsya's request to fish. This time, heal Zozone or prevent them from dying by getting aggro on the enemies.
God Of Heaven And Sea: Allow Matsya to fish. Later, interact with the sand pile on the right to receive a Southern Sow Bug.
A Noxious Gift: Allow Matsya to fish. Later, interact with the mound of rocks on the left to receive a Southern Worm.
When taking the middle path, the boss and mechanics is:
The Roots Of Arcanima: Go straight through and defeat the enemies, and ignore the flowers.
Under The Boughs Of The Great Tree: Step into the flowered bushes and scare off both sets of rats at the end of the hidden paths.
A Dear Friend: Kill the treant first, followed by the caterpillars on the sigil. Refrain from attacking the Miqo’te in the final group before the boss encounter.
Fish For The Mind: Kill the treant first, followed by the caterpillars on the sigil. Attack the Miqo’te in the final group before the boss encounter.
When taking the right path, the boss and mechanics is:
A Familiar History: Agree to Statice's proposal and engage with the portal she spawns.
The Remnants Of Faith: This can be obtained by both accepting and denying Statice's offer. Accept: Engage with the portal, then dispatch the six raptors in the subsequent chamber. Locate and traverse the vine-concealed tunnel on the right of the ensuing corridor, leading to the crocodile chamber, and sidestep Statice's decoy trap.
Deny: Deny 3 times. Ignore the treasures. Ignore the animal statues and pull the lever.
A Lalafell Or A Fish?: Deny Statice's offer 3 times. Interact with the treasures and defeat the mimics. Ignore the animal statues and pull the lever.
Wellspring Of Golden Memories: Deny Statice's offer 3 times. Ignore the treasures. Do the rituals at the 3 animal statues and there appears the secret boss.
The rituals are:
