Where is Blackrose Prison in ESO?
Blackrose Prison is a challenging group-based arena in The Elder Scrolls Online. It holds significant lore as it was originally built by Imperial Potentate Versidue-Shaie to house the most feared criminal and political prisoners of the Second Empire. The prison, named after the ancient city of Blackrose, has been taken over by the Blackguards, descendants of the original inmates. Players can enter this deadly gauntlet to face waves of enemies and bosses across five different arenas, each with unique mechanics and challenges. Completing Blackrose Prison rewards players with special gear and weapons, contributing to their character's progression and power.
So where is Blackrose Prison? It is located in the southwestern region of Murkmire in the game. To find Blackrose Prison, you can travel northwest from the Blackrose Prison Wayshrine. It's situated south of Dead-Water Village. The prison features both Normal and Veteran modes, with each round taking place in a different section of the prison, culminating in a boss fight.

Blackrose Prison is a one-level arena setup, which means players won't have to move between different floors or areas within the arena, allowing for a more straightforward progression through the stages, albeit with no less difficulty in terms of the challenges presented. The arena consists of five distinct stages, culminating in a final boss fight. Players will encounter a variety of enemies such as river trolls, flame atronachs, bloodfiends, and skeletal soldiers as they progress through the gauntlet. Here we’ll briefly explain the boss mechanics. For Battlemage Ennodius: Avoid overlapping AoEs from meteors and block to mitigate damage. For Tames-the-Beast: Deal with various beasts, each requiring different strategies to overcome. For Lady Minara: Watch out for her devastating AoE attacks and her minions. For Drakeeh the Unchained: The final boss combines elements from previous bosses, requiring careful prioritization and movement.

Completing the Blackrose Prison Arena offers a variety of rewards. Firstly, ESO gold is a standard reward for completing in-game challenges. Then after completing significant content for the first time, you will be granted skill points. They are the unique weapons “Blackrose Weapons”, which can enhance special abilities. Note that normal versions drop from the last boss on normal difficulty, while Perfected versions, which have additional bonuses, drop in Veteran Mode or can be awarded to players who rank on the weekly Arena leaderboard. You will also occasionally find Honor Guard-style pages as rewards and bosses drop parts from the Murkmire DLC's three-zone gear sets.
The gear obtained from Blackrose Prison can significantly benefit various builds in The Elder Scrolls Online by enhancing specific abilities and playstyles. For Tanks, they can provide additional survivability and control, such as through sets that increase health or provide damage mitigation. Damage Dealers can boost damage output, particularly for abilities that are central to their rotation. And for Healers, though not directly aimed at, certain Blackrose weapons can indirectly benefit healer builds by enhancing the effectiveness of support abilities.
