ESO Jerall Pass PvP Guide -Jerall Marks, Fanthor Keep & Rewards

ESO

Jerall Pass is ESO's new three-faction open-world PvP zone, coming with Season Three on January 27, 2027 (Update 52 lands January 19, 2027). Up to 120 players fight over Fanthor Keep and its resources, earn the new Jerall Marks currency, and spend it with two vendors on Mythic Leads, Trial gear, and Dungeon gear. It's live now on the PTS if you want a preview — and if you want to hit the ground running at launch, stocking up on gold early is the smartest prep you can do.

What Is Jerall Pass in ESO?

Jerall Pass is a new Alliance-based PvP zone set in the snowy Jerall Mountains north of Cyrodiil. Think of it as a compact, objective-focused alternative to Cyrodiil: instead of roaming a huge campaign map, three Alliances concentrate their forces on one central fortress — Fanthor Keep — and the resources tied to it.

It's not just a battleground, though. The current PTS build also includes:

  • Repeatable quest boards and intro quests
  • Skyshards, fishing, and other open-world activities
  • Keep and resource upgrades with multi-rank progression
  • Supply Crates that feed the upkeep system
  • A mysterious ancient being in a cave beneath Fanthor Keep

How ESO Jerall Pass PvP Works

40v40v40 Alliance Battles

The test version caps each Alliance at 40 players — up to 120 players on one focused map. Compared to Cyrodiil's sprawling campaigns, that means:

  • Solo players can actually find fights and objectives without a long trek.
  • Organized groups can coordinate Keep pushes and defenses more efficiently.
  • Casual players can dip in for quests, fishing, and Skyshards without committing to a full campaign.

Keep in mind the 40-player cap is a PTS number — ZeniMax may tune it based on performance and feedback before launch.

Fanthor Keep: The Heart of the Map

Fanthor Keep sits at the center of the zone and is the primary objective. Controlling the Keep and its resources gives your Alliance a concrete reason to group up, and the Keep system supports multiple upgrade ranks — with upkeep costs becoming relevant at higher tiers. Supply Crates help maintain the structures, adding a light resource-management layer on top of the fighting.

New to the zone? Open the map, check your Alliance's quest boards, and see where your faction is massing before you wander into a losing fight.

The Ancient Being Beneath Fanthor Keep

The most unusual feature: a powerful ancient creature in an underground cave below the Keep. PTS testing shows two possible outcomes — defeat it in combat, or investigate clues scattered around the cave that may let you persuade it to fight for your side. A full walkthrough isn't possible yet since the encounter is still being tuned, but if you're on the PTS, explore the cave, watch for clues, and report anything buggy.

ESO Jerall Marks: How to Earn and Spend Them

Jerall Marks are the zone's dedicated currency, and they're the reason even non-PvP players will want to visit.

How to Earn

  1. Repeatable bounty-board quests — steady Marks while you learn the zone.
  1. Named bosses — extra Marks for taking down the zone's unique spawns.

What to Buy

Vendor

Rewards

Specialty Procurements

Rotating stock: Mythic Leads, Trial gear, Dungeon gear, past Veterancy rewards, and other rotating items

Siege Merchant

Supplies tied to the zone's siege and Keep systems

Pro tip: the Specialty Procurements stock rotates. Don't dump your Marks on the first thing you see — check what's currently offered and save for the Mythic Lead or gear piece you actually want. Mythic Leads in particular are worth watching, since some Mythic items require leads that are otherwise gated behind long grinds.

Jerall Pass won't replace Cyrodiil — the long-term appeal depends on queue times, population, and balance. But for players who found Cyrodiil too sprawling or too dead at off-peak hours, a concentrated 120-player map is exactly the fix they've been asking for.

When Does Jerall Pass Release?

  • Update 52 — January 19, 2027
  • Season Three (permanent availability) — January 27, 2027

Want to try it early? Open the ESO launcher → Settings → enable Show Public Test Environment, download the PTS client, and jump in. Everything is subject to change based on testing.

How to Prepare Before Launch (and Why Gold Matters)

Here's the part most guides skip: a new PvP zone is also a new gold sink.

  • Keep and resource upgrades cost gold, and upkeep kicks in at higher ranks — guilds will burn through reserves fast.
  • Siege supplies from the Siege Merchant and the broader siege system all feed on resources you'll want stocked.
  • Gear prep matters more than ever: with Trial and Dungeon gear now purchasable via Jerall Marks, the smart play is arriving at launch with a complete build already in your bags — enchants, traits, and all — so you can focus on Marks instead of catch-up gear.
  • Potions, food, and repair costs in a 120-player battlefield add up quickly.

The efficient move is to front-load your gold now, while the market is quiet. Whether you farm it yourself (daily writs, guild flipping — see our ESO Gold Making Guide) or save the grind and buy ESO gold from SSEGold with fast, safe delivery, having a healthy bank balance at launch means you're upgrading Keeps and buying siege supplies on day one while everyone else is still farming.

First-Visit Checklist for Jerall Pass

1. Read the quest boards — free Marks and zone orientation
2. Check the Specialty Procurements rotation before spending
3. Follow your Alliance's map activity instead of solo roaming
4. Grab Skyshards and fishing spots between fights
5. Visit the cave under Fanthor Keep and look for clues
6. Stock up on siege supplies, potions, and food before pushing the Keep

FAQ

Is Jerall Pass a new Cyrodiil map? No. It's a separate, more concentrated PvP zone built around Fanthor Keep as the central objective.

How many players can enter? The PTS build is set at 40 per Alliance (40v40v40, up to 120 total). ZeniMax may adjust this.

What are Jerall Marks used for? Exchanging with the Specialty Procurements merchant for rotating rewards — Mythic Leads, Trial gear, Dungeon gear, past Veterancy rewards — and with the Siege Merchant for siege/Keep supplies.

Can PvE players benefit from the zone? Yes — quests, Skyshards, fishing, and PvE-oriented gear rewards. Just remember it's an open PvP zone, so enemy encounters are always possible.

Is Jerall Pass on live servers yet? Not yet. It's on the PTS now as part of the Update 52 cycle, with permanent availability planned for Season Three on January 27, 2027.
