Path of Exile 2 Roving Wisps Guide – Rewards, Bugs, and Patch 0.3 Updates
Path of Exile 2 introduces new mechanics tied to Azmerian Wisps, glowing spirit-like orbs that enhance monsters and reward players with better loot. One of the most notable activities is the Roving Wisps point of interest (POI) in Kriar Village, where you must track down fleeing Wisps, fight infused monsters, and claim their treasures. However, the activity has also drawn attention for being buggy and confusing. This guide explains how Roving Wisps work, their rewards, and the impact of Patch 0.3 updates.
What Are Azmerian Wisps?
-
Behavior: When approached, Wisps flee and pass through nearby monsters. Those monsters become “spirit-infused,” gaining buffs and dealing more damage.
-
Final Target: Wisps eventually merge with a Rare or Unique monster, significantly empowering it.
-
Reward: Defeating the infused rare not only clears the Wisp but also yields improved loot, sometimes including Talismans.

Roving Wisps in Kriar Village
The Roving Wisps POI involves three Wisps in total:
-
Follow each Wisp until it merges with a Rare enemy.
-
Defeat the infused monster for enhanced loot.
-
Repeat this process for all three Wisps.
On paper, clearing all three should complete the POI. However, many players encounter an issue where the map icon remains active and the game does not mark it as completed.
Rewards
-
Spirit-Infused Loot: Stronger rares drop more valuable rewards compared to normal mobs.
-
Talismans: Some infused monsters drop these unique socketables, boosting builds further.
-
XP & Challenge: Defeating infused rares offers extra progression benefits.
⚠️ Note: Some players mistakenly believe Roving Wisps grant +40 permanent Spirit. That bonus actually comes from defeating the boss Lythara the Wayward Spear, not from the POI itself.
Known Bugs
-
Unsolvable POI: Even after clearing all three Wisps, the Roving Wisps POI often stays “active” on the map.
-
Visual Icon Bug: The map icon fails to gray out, making it appear unfinished.
-
Occasional Spawn Issues: Sometimes Wisps don’t merge correctly with rares, leaving players confused.
Patch 0.3 Updates
-
Earlier Wisp Encounters: Azmeri Spirits now begin appearing as early as the Hunting Grounds, not just Grelwood.
-
Delwyn Removed: Delwyn no longer accompanies Wisp encounters after the first introduction, making them cleaner.
-
Bug Still Present: Unfortunately, the Roving Wisps POI in Kriar Village remains unfixed in Patch 0.3. The completion issue is still active.
Strategy Tips
-
Stay close to Wisps while following them to prevent despawns.
-
Clear trash mobs before engaging the infused rare for safety.
-
Treat the encounter as bonus loot rather than a strict objective, since completion tracking is bugged.
Conclusion
Roving Wisps in Path of Exile 2 are an exciting mechanic that adds challenge and loot opportunities. Despite the bugged POI in Kriar Village, they remain worthwhile for farming Talismans and high-value drops. Patch 0.3 has improved Wisps overall by making them spawn earlier, but we’re still waiting on a fix for the completion issue.
