Path of Exile 2 2026 Roadmap: 1.0 Full Release & Final Early Access Plans
Exciting news for exiles: Grinding Gear Games has officially confirmed that Patch 0.5.0: Return of the Ancients is the final major early access update before PoE 2's full 1.0 launch. Game director Jonathan Rogers emphasized that GGG is pushing hard to hit a late 2026 release, directly following ExileCon 2026, while transitioning the game from its early access model to a fully free-to-play experience. This marks a major turning point for the community, as players worldwide prepare for the culmination of PoE 2’s early access journey.
PoE 2 2026 Roadmap at a Glance
To help players plan, here’s an at-a-glance view of key milestones leading up to the 1.0 release:
| Milestone / Event | Expected Timing | Core Purpose & Features |
|---|---|---|
| Patch 0.5.0: Return of the Ancients | Live Now (Late May 2026) | Massive Atlas overhaul, 6 endgame storylines, 30 new map areas, Runes of Aldur League |
| Ongoing Balance & Parity | Summer – Fall 2026 | Dedicated loot filters, trade UI adjustments, console parity updates |
| ExileCon 2026 | Nov 7 – Nov 8, 2026 | Full 1.0 showcase, campaign completion details, official launch date reveal |
| Official 1.0 Full Launch | Late 2026 (Nov / Dec) | Free-to-play launch, final campaign acts, new pinnacle bosses, Standard server migration |
Why Patch 0.5.0 is the Final Bridge to 1.0
Instead of rolling out smaller incremental patches, GGG has consolidated all necessary core updates into Patch 0.5.0: Return of the Ancients. This includes:
- 400-node Atlas passive tree overhaul – redesigned progression and node rewards.
- Structured progression loops – designed for long-term engagement and balance.
- Endgame storylines and map expansions – 6 complete endgame story arcs with 30 new maps.
The development focus has shifted from releasing every class at launch to ensuring a rock-solid campaign and balanced endgame loop, making a late 2026 release date highly realistic.
