Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0: Reveal Date, Endgame Rework, and Duelist Rumors

The journey through Path of Exile 2’s Early Access has reached a critical turning point. While the Fate of the Vaal league brought us face-to-face with Queen Atziri once again, players have been vocal about the friction in the current map progression and endgame scaling.

Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has listened. With a massive livestream reveal scheduled for late April 2026, Patch 0.5.0 is shaping up to be the most significant update since the game’s debut. Here is everything SSEgold knows—and what we expect—from the upcoming 0.5.0 expansion.

0.5.0 Reveal Date and Launch Schedule

Based on official communications from GGG, we are entering the "hype cycle" for the next major content milestone.

Official Livestream

Confirmed to be on 1PM May 7, 2026 (PDT).

Patch 0.5.0 Launch Date

Confirmed to be on 1PM May 29, 2026 (PDT).

The "Hype Train"

Expect daily teasers on social media starting approximately 72 hours before the main broadcast.

The "Endgame Rework": Fixing the Atlas

The most requested change in 0.5.0 isn't a new skill or item—it’s a fix for the endgame. In the current 0.4.0 environment, players found the "Waystone" progression to be slightly disjointed compared to the original PoE’s Atlas.

Streamlined Mapping

Look for a more intuitive way to tier up Waystones. GGG has hinted at a system that rewards "completionism" more than RNG drops.

Atlas Tree 2.0

The current passive tree for the endgame is functional but lacks the "wow" factor. Predictions suggest new clusters that specifically interact with Path of Exile 2’s unique boss mechanics.

Pinnacle Boss Integration

While Atziri was the star of the Vaal league, 0.5.0 is expected to introduce a more permanent "Gatekeeper" boss that bridges the gap between the campaign and the ultra-hard endgame.

New Class Rumors: Enter the Duelist?

The community has been scouring dev interviews for hints on the next playable class. All signs currently point to the Duelist.

Why the Duelist?

GGG previously stated that sword-and-shield combat and high-dexterity melee movement were high-priority milestones for the mid-2026 roadmap. The Duelist’s "identity"—a master of both Strength and Dexterity—is the perfect vehicle to showcase Path of Exile 2’s new WASD movement and tactical combat.

If not the Duelist, who?

The Shadow is the secondary candidate. If GGG decides to focus on the "Cunning" aspect of the game (Traps, Mines, and Poisons), the Shadow could take the spotlight instead.

What Happens to Your "Fate of the Vaal" Characters?

A common concern during Early Access is whether progress will be wiped. For Patch 0.5.0, the answer is a resounding no.

Migration

When the Fate of the Vaal league ends in early May, your characters and stash will move to the Standard Early Access League.

Gear Value

Your current items will remain usable, though the meta will likely shift significantly with the balance changes coming in 0.5.0.

League Mechanic

While the "Vaal Beacons" might not go "core" immediately, the rewards from the Vaal Temple will likely be integrated into the new Atlas rewards.

Expected Quality of Life (QoL) Changes

Beyond the big headlines, 0.5.0 is expected to polish the "feel" of the game:

Skill Transparency

A slider to reduce "visual clutter" during 6-player party play.

Gold Economy Tuning

Adjustments to how much gold is dropped and the costs associated with the Gambler and Respec NPCs.

Controller Refinements

Continued improvements for those playing on consoles or using gamepads on PC.

Final Thoughts

Patch 0.5.0 isn't just another update; it is GGG’s response to the first major wave of feedback from the Early Access community. By focusing on the Endgame Rework and potentially adding the Duelist, Path of Exile 2 is moving one step closer to its 1.0 release.
