New World – Fancy some PvP?

About New World

New World is the next big open-world MMO that will release very soon. September 28th 2021 to be exact. Amazon Games is looking to make a dent in the MMO world with their latest game release, following the “not so successful” launch of their first title. New World is making waves on the internet and on forums alike.

New World is not like any other MMO. It takes a different approach whereby there are almost no quests and you are free to play the game as you like. The closed beta was very successful and Amazon Games are looking to increase the games popularity with the open beta which will be available to all players on September 9th – 12th 2021. I was fortunate enough to play the closed beta and can therefore give you the information you need to find out all you need to know about PvP.

Will New World have PvP?

Yes, New World will have PvP content. Two modes will be available at launch.

• War
• Outpost Rush

In New World, participating in open world PvP is not mandatory. Once you complete the required quests and have joined a faction, you can opt to participate in PvP by flagging yourself.

War

War is a massive PvP battle whereby teams consisting of teams of 50 players will fight for control over entire settlements or territories. Your faction will need to first weaken a territory via Faction Missions and only then can you declare war on the said territory. Once the territory enters a Conflict State, a random faction Company is chosen to defend the territory under attack. Before the attacking party can breach the wall, they will need to capture 3 rally points. These rally points can be used as respawn points if the player dies. Both sides will have access to various siege weapons and traps to help gain the advantage and assist in winning the war. On New Worlds website, this game mode is being described, and I quote: as the “pinnacle of PvP in New World” so it will be interesting to see exactly how this game mode will unfold.

Outpost Rush

Outpost Rush is more of a PvPvE mode. In Outpost Rush, two teams of 20 players will fight enemy players while holding off enemy NPC’s. They will also need to fight over control for specific resources and fortifications. In this game mode, you will earn points for:

• Killing enemies
• Holding outposts
• Securing points around the map

How to turn PvP on/off?

New World is divided into 3 factions.

• The Marauders
• The Syndicate
• The Covenant

These factions cannot be changed later, so choose carefully. You will have to choose at level 10 which faction you want to represent.

Once in a faction you can flag up for PvP at any settlement by going into the settlement and pressing the default key at the PvP flag. The same option is available to deactivate PvP. Once activated though, there is a PvP cooldown timer upon leaving the settlement. Once this timer expires, you are then open to be attacked or can attack other flagged players that are in an opposing faction in the open world at any time.

Bonuses for turning PvP on?

The incentives for turning PvP on are as follows:

• Extra XP
• Faction tokens
• Item rewards

When you kill a player in the open-world, they will not drop any items. So don’t think going around killing players will drop you their high-level weapons (if they have any). Same applies for you. If you are killed, you will only lose XP. You can always return to your corpse to retrieve your items. While flagged you can participate in PvP Faction missions that will weaken the opposing territory. When participating in PvP you will also receive the following bonus:

-50% less durability damage when you die to another player.

This applies to both your equipped items and the gear you have in your backpack.

Faction Control Points

Faction CP (Control Points) are located inside Forts of each territory. Players can only capture these CP’s by having more members of their Faction inside the CP than the other Factions. Forts that have been captured will remain captured until a different Faction either claims the fort themselves or wins a War for the territory. You must have PvP enabled if you wish to enter and try take control of the Fort. The time required to capture a Fort will depend on the number of players inside the CP. For instance, a solo player will take 5 minutes to capture the Fort, but it will take a full group of 5 people around 2 minutes and 30 seconds to capture the CP. Control points will be activated 60 minutes after a War or Invasion is completed.

A fort provides a 5% increase to experience gain and 20% increase to influence within that territory for faction members.

Additionally, each fort has a unique buff that is provided to all players of the controlling faction:

Fort Buff provided
First Light Reduces fast travel weight cost from x5 Azoth to x1 Azoth per 10 weight.
Monarchs Bluff Reduces fast travel distance cost from x5 Azoth to x1 Azoth per 100m.

MourningdaleIncreases coin, XP from Expeditions by 5%.
Ebonscale ReachReduces refining taxes by 5%.
Reekwater Reduces crafting taxes by 5%.

Best PvP Weapons

Since this guide revolves around PvP, I thought I would include a top tier weapons list from a weapons guide article I wrote a while back.

These weapons have been allocated into certain tier groups, according to their power and usefulness in PvP.

S Tier Ice Gauntlet Rapier Life Staff
A Tier Bow Fire Staff Musket
B Tier Great Axe

By far, the most powerful PvP weapon out of this list, for now anyway, is the Ice Gauntlet. (Pictured above). The reason for this is that the CC, defensive and mana regeneration abilities are so important for PvP battles. When using the Ice Gauntlet, you will receive a variety of buffs/perks such as:

• Impressive defensive cooldown
• Increased mana regeneration
• Can slow enemies and stop them from dodging your attacks
• The Entomb skill can place you in a block of ice

Will you be playing PvP when New World releases? I’m a big fan of PvP in games, especially MMO’s. I will be rallying that PvP flag as soon as my build is setup for PvP. New World will release on 28th September 2021 and is available for pre-order on Amazon and Steam. Should you wish to dabble in some PvP and you find yourself short on resources/items, you can buy New World Coins safe and fast, here at SSE Gold.

Should you also wish to play New World, you can currently pre-order New World on Amazon and Steam and it comes in 3 different bundles:

• Standard Edition - $39,99
• Deluxe Edition - $49,99
• Steel book Edition – No price listed as of yet.
