New World vs World of Warcraft

New MMOs are being brought to light every year. Most of them fall short of being the so-called “World of Warcraft” killers. Until now.Blizzard's recent events have players feeling disconnected from their childhood nostalgia. Along with their misunderstanding of what players want has caused a gap in the market. Where “World of Warcraft” has been failing, New World has been succeeding.
This article will highlight key features for an MMO and will compare each game to these features. This serves to give you the community outlook on which game will give you the best experience.

The Payment Models

Companies each have their unique way of gaining revenue. Most MMO RPGs focus on the subscription model, which means a monthly bill to play the game. To understand the difference between “World of Warcraft” and “New World,” we need to understand each of their pay structures.

World of Warcraft’s Pay Model

World of Warcraft’s pay model is a monthly subscription of $15 or €13. As well as paying a monthly subscription, there is a cost per expansion. This cost is usually $40 or €30 per expansion release.

To add to the fuel, “Blizzard” has made some obvious mistakes that the community dislikes. They have incentivized buying items from their cash shop. Things like boosts, mounts and even vanity items are now in the cash shop. (Most of them are really experience, choose our WoW Items instead.)

New World’s Pay Model

The way New World handles the pay model is through buy-to-play. Essentially, there are no subscriptions or hidden monthly costs.

There is a cash shop but, it’s purely for cosmetic items only. “Amazon” has stated that there will be no buy-to-advance methods in the cash shop.

Verdict

World of Warcraft’s subscription model is more expensive and comes with an element of pay to advance. The community favors less of a pay-to-win model, and as a result, prefers New World’s cash shop structure. The MMO RPG community is also siding with the model of pay per expansion rather than the subscription model. As a result of this, New World is the clear winner.

Combat

MMO RPGs are expansive and designed to take up a lot of time. One thing an MMO RPG has to do is engage its player base with combat. Once again, we will take a look at World of Warcraft and then move to New World.

World of Warcraft Combat

World of Warcraft’s combat style is known as “Tab-Targeting.” Essentially, this means you target something and can cast your spells at it. There is no need to aim - just lock your target and fire.

Many people prefer this style of gameplay, but not all. Many of the MMO RPG’s community would appreciate new combat styles. They are missing that fresh outlook on an MMO.

New World Combat

The combat style of New World is fluent. What this means is that you aim your cursor at the target and attack. This style of combat allows players to get creative during combat phases.

Using the environment as a part of the gameplay adds a unique experience to the player. With this gameplay style, a new element of skill is introduced, which is preferred by the MMO community. (You can use New World Coins to buy items on the Auction House to help Improve the character's combat ability!)

Verdict

The combat styles between the games are very different. It’s hard to say, with absolution, which one is better or worse. It comes down to personal preference. If you are a player who prefers tab-targeting, then World of Warcraft is your game. If you don’t like tab-targeting, then choose New World.

Objectively speaking, New World is bringing a more futuristic style of combat rather than the old. Due to this, New World is holding a better reputation in the MMO RPG community.

Graphics

The subject of graphics is complex. World of Warcraft and New World have very different graphic styles.

World of Warcraft’s Graphics

World of Warcraft’s graphics is more fantasy-driven. With a soft undertone of shading and vibrant colors, it adds to the depth of the world. Most MMO RPG players refer to the game as looking “cartoony.”

The MMO RPG community has nothing but positive remarks for the fantasy style of World of Warcraft.

New World’s Graphics

To describe New World’s graphics would be to call it “realistic.” The game looks polished with beautiful landscapes and model designs. “Amazon’s” “Lumberyard” engine is taking MMOS to new levels of graphics.

Verdict

While both games offer a different style of graphics, New World is bringing MMOS to new levels. Graphically, World of Warcraft has its unique take on an art style and is beloved by many, but there is no mistaking New World’s beautiful graphic innovation. In the eyes of the MMO RPG community, New World wins the graphic contest.

Gameplay

Just like with combat, the gameplay is also an essential part of an MMO RPG. Having weak gameplay for an MMO can single-handedly bring it to its knees. Both of these games have gameplay that can keep the player base intrigued. Once again, we will review each game separately and give a verdict.

World of Warcraft’s Gameplay

In World of Warcraft, players mostly look for the “late-game.” While questing is an option, it usually serves the purpose of getting faster to the late game. Leveling in World of Warcraft can be slow, but dungeons help break the mold and serve as engaging content.

The gameplay starts to improve when you hit max level in World of Warcraft. You have a variety of content, namely:

●Dungeons
●Raiding
●PvP
●Battlegrounds
●Arena
●Professions
●Mount Farming
●Transmog Runs
●PvE

The above list is a small list of options that World of Warcraft has to offer, gameplay-wise.

New World’s Gameplay

New World is a new game. Only being out for a few months, there is not much to do or explore yet. As it stands, the gameplay is limited to:

●Professions
●Crafting
●PvP
●Battlegrounds
●Clan Wars
●PvE

The gameplay is still in its early form, so be ready to assume this list will only grow as time goes on.

Verdict

While New World is in its early stages, World of Warcraft has a clear advantage in this area. So if you’re looking for engaging late-game content, World of Warcraft is the game to play.

Conclusion

World of Warcraft VS New World. The past few months have not been good for “Blizzard” and its fans, and as a result, more people are leaving to play other MMOs. Meanwhile, New World is experimenting with new unique features like push-to-talk, “Twitch” support and so much more. World of Warcraft may have finally met its match in “Amazon’s” new outstanding MMO. Check out SSEGold.com to help gain a gold advantage in your journey through World of Warcraft or New World.
