Mists of Pandaria Classic Pre-Patch: All Currency Conversions & Reward Changes Explained

So... What’s Going On With the MoP Classic Pre-Patch?

Mists of Pandaria Classic officially kicks off with its pre-patch on July 1, and if you’ve been grinding Valor or Conquest in Cataclysm Classic, now’s the time to take a deep breath. Blizzard is flipping the switch on how currencies and rewards work—Valor is going away, Conquest is going away, and everything’s getting funneled into the old-school Justice and Honor systems... at least for a bit.

Don’t panic, though. We’re gonna walk through:

• What’s converting (and how much gold you’re getting),

• What rewards are going away or changing,

• When Valor and Conquest come back, and

• How to prep so you don’t lose out.

All Currency Conversions Coming July 1

Blizzard is doing a full currency shuffle right at the start of the pre-patch. Here’s the breakdown:

Valor → Justice

• All Valor Points will be converted into Justice Points at a 1:1 ratio.

• But Justice has a 4,000 point cap, so if you’re over that?
  You’ll get gold instead. Specifically:

  • 47 silver per excess Justice Point

Conquest → Honor

• Same deal here: Conquest Points become Honor Points, also at 1:1.

• Honor also caps at 4,000 points, and the extra becomes:

  • 35 silver per excess Honor Point

So if you're hoarding either currency, you’ve got two options:

• Spend them before July 1, or

• Let them convert and pocket some gold.

This isn’t a bad move if you’re done with Cata and already chilling until MoP, but if you're still gearing up alts or running raids, don't let that excess get wasted.

What’s Being Disabled or Removed?

Valor and Conquest Gain Disabled Temporarily

Right after the pre-patch hits:

• Valor and Conquest won’t be earnable.

• Dungeons and Raids will drop Justice.

• Rated PvP will be turned off (no more Arenas/BGs giving Conquest).

Blizzard’s essentially freezing both systems until MoP’s full launch.

Vendor Changes

A few lesser-known vendor items are also going away:

• You won’t be able to buy Obsidian/Fissure Fragments or Vulgar Commendations anymore.

• Commendations of Service will no longer convert to Justice—you’ll only be able to vendor them for gold.

In other words, the pre-patch is a soft reset of the endgame economy before MoP’s new systems roll in.

How Much Gold Will You Get?

Blizzard isn’t just deleting your points—they’re paying out:

• 47 silver per extra Justice Point

• 35 silver per extra Honor Point

That means if you’re over the cap by 2,000 points in either category, you’re getting:

• ~94g for Justice overflow

• ~70g for Honor overflow

Not game-changing, but not terrible either. You can do the math and decide if it’s worth it to burn your currencies before patch day or let them convert.

When Do Valor and Conquest Come Back?

Here’s the good news: Valor and Conquest aren’t gone forever.

Week of July 21: Valor Returns

Starting with the first weekly reset after July 21, you’ll be able to start earning Valor again—slowly:

• Week 1 Cap: 1,600 Valor

• Increases by +1,600 each week (so 3,200 in Week 2, etc.)

• Sources of Valor:

  • Heroic Dungeons

  • Scenarios

  • Daily Quests

  • Raid Bosses

And best of all? Once one of your characters earns 1,000 Valor in a week, all your other characters get a 50% Valor bonus for the rest of that week. Alt enjoyers, rejoice.

What Can You Buy with Valor?

Valor will let you buy Item Level 489 PvE gear from MoP factions and quartermasters. These vendors will still require faction rep, but Blizzard confirmed they’re removing most of the rep restrictions to make it way more alt-friendly.

PvP Season 11 Starts July 28

If you're more into bloodshed than boss fights, PvP Season 11 kicks off the week of July 28, and here’s what you can expect:

Conquest is Back

• You’ll start earning Conquest Points through Rated Arenas and Battlegrounds again.

• Weekly Cap: 4,000 Conquest, increasing by 4,000 every week (like Valor).

• Use Conquest to buy Item Level 483 PvP gear.
