How to Anoint an Amulet in PoE 2 Patch 0.5: Complete Liquid Emotions Guide
With the launch of Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients (Patch 0.5.0), Delirium received one of the largest overhauls in the game's history. One mechanic that remains incredibly powerful is Amulet Instilling, commonly called Anointing by veteran players.
Anointing allows you to gain a powerful Notable Passive Skill from the passive tree without spending any passive points. For many builds, this represents one of the biggest power spikes available from a single item upgrade.
What Is Anointing in PoE 2?
Anointing (officially called Instilling) allows players to add a Notable Passive Skill to an amulet using a combination of three Liquid Emotions.
Once applied, the amulet grants the effects of that passive node as if you had allocated it on your passive tree. However, if you already have that notable allocated naturally, you do not receive the bonus twice.
This system is especially valuable because it allows you to gain powerful passives that would normally require significant passive point investment.
What Changed in Patch 0.5?
Patch 0.5 introduced several important changes to the Delirium system.
Distilled Emotions Are Now Called Liquid Emotions
Grinding Gear Games officially renamed Distilled Emotions to Liquid Emotions in earlier updates, and Patch 0.5 expanded their functionality even further.
Liquid Emotions Can Now Craft Jewels
One of the biggest additions in Patch 0.5 is the ability to use Liquid Emotions on Jewels.
Using a Liquid Emotion on a Jewel removes a random modifier and replaces it with a Delirium-specific modifier, creating a new layer of deterministic crafting.
New Dual-Notable Jewelry
Patch 0.5 also introduced new amulet base types that can drop with multiple instilled passives, creating powerful endgame optimization opportunities.
Where to Get Liquid Emotions
Liquid Emotions primarily come from Delirium content.
Current sources include:
- Delirium encounters inside Waystones
- Delirium map bosses
- Simulacrum encounters
- Trading with other players
Delirium bosses and higher difficulty encounters have increased chances of dropping higher-tier Liquid Emotions.
