FFXIV Patch 7.4 Tier List: Power and Meta Ranking for Dawntrail
Final Fantasy 14’s patch 7.4 brings some of the most exciting class balancing changes seen in recent updates. While there’s still a lot to come with the upcoming Savage raids, the changes in normal mode content provide a good glimpse into how the game’s power and meta rankings are shifting. Let’s break down the tier list and discuss where your favorite jobs stand.
S Tier: The Standout Jobs of Patch 7.4
White Mage was one of the biggest surprises of this patch. Although its core changes didn’t significantly impact its healing power, the introduction of lilies and blood lilies fully loaded at the start of every encounter creates an explosive opening that offers immense value. With the added damage mitigation effect from Plenary Indulgence, White Mage now finds itself more competitive with Astrologian. Although shield healers are still strong contenders, White Mage benefits from its ability to shine in the early stages of a fight, making it a solid S tier choice for healers.

For tanks, we’re seeing a well-balanced group in Dawntrail. Dark Knight and Gunbreaker share similar damage output, with Dark Knight slightly outperforming Warrior in terms of DPS. Paladin and Warrior still excel in defensive situations, with Paladin having the best range toolkit for specific encounters. But for now, all tanks fall comfortably into the A+ tier, with Paladin potentially creeping into S tier in specific scenarios.
When it comes to DPS, the top picks are clear. Black Mage stands out as the only DPS job in S tier, with its high raw damage output making it a must-have for raids. Samurai, Ninja, and Monk round out the A+ tier, with Samurai particularly excelling due to its massive ADPS potential. While Red Mage has seen significant changes to its rotation, Summoner has taken a step back, moving to B tier. Reaper, Pictomancer, and Black Mage have become dominant choices, but Black Mage remains the undisputed leader.

A+ Tier: The Strong Contenders
Machinist is an interesting job in patch 7.4, as it has seen tremendous improvements. The job now competes on a level playing field with other melee DPS, making it a top pick for anyone not aiming for a super-optimized party scenario. Although it still falls short compared to the top DPS roles in A+ tier, it has become an excellent choice for normal raids, and its performance in ADPS is much improved.
Dragoon also finds itself in the middle of the pack, with a solid performance that benefits from crit scaling as the expansion progresses. While Viper saw some nerfs to its AoE toolkit, its ADPS remains strong. However, Viper now lags behind Monk, Ninja, and Samurai in overall raid performance.
B Tier: The Jobs Struggling to Keep Up
The Summoner has fallen from grace in patch 7.4, with its damage output being outclassed by jobs like Red Mage and Pictomancer. While it still has its uses in early proc parties, it now struggles to maintain the same level of performance in Savage raids compared to its counterparts.
Reaper also finds itself in B tier, as its scaling with higher item levels and sub stats in patch 7.4 leaves it trailing behind other melee DPS jobs like Monk, Ninja, and Samurai. While its utility remains high, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Reaper doesn't hold up as well as other jobs in the Savage raid setting.
Looking Ahead: FFXIV’s Power Rankings for Savage Raids
As we move into Savage, expect the tier list to shift slightly. White Mage will likely remain strong, but the defensive value of shield healers will become even more apparent. For DPS, Black Mage could solidify its S tier position, with Monk, Samurai, and Ninja continuing to fight for supremacy in the melee DPS category.
For Tanks, expect Paladin and Warrior to hold their ground with their excellent defensive capabilities, while Dark Knight and Gunbreaker will shine in terms of raw DPS output.
