Fastest Way to Level a Warlock in MoP Classic (1–90)
So you rolled a Warlock in Mists of Pandaria Classic. Great choice. Warlocks are one of the smoothest and most self-sufficient classes in the game. You’ve got your own tank, infinite mana, health regen built into your damage, and the kind of DoT gameplay that just scales as you go. Best of all—you barely ever need to stop.
Now, if your goal is to hit 90 fast, whether for PvP, PvE, or just to get ahead before the realm fills up, this is the guide for you. No fluff, no RP tour, just a real walk through how to speed-level your Warlock from 1–90 with a solid plan.

Pick the Right Spec: Affliction for the Win
If you want the fastest leveling experience, go Affliction.
Sure, Demonology has its fans (and honestly, it is fun in dungeons), but Affliction is where it’s at for solo questing. You get to DoT multiple enemies, heal yourself passively, and kite almost everything. Your Voidwalker tanks while you rot mobs down.
From level 10 onward, Affliction just flows.
Talents That Keep You Moving
Pick talents that give you sustain and speed:
-
Level 15: Soul Leech – This is the real MVP. Heals you while you do damage.
-
Level 30: Mortal Coil – Instant fear + heal. Use it to survive messy pulls.
-
Level 45: Soul Link – Split damage with your pet. You’ll feel immortal.
-
Level 60: Burning Rush – Move faster, at the cost of some HP. Totally worth it.
-
Level 75: Grimoire of Supremacy – Upgraded demons, especially a tankier Voidwalker.
-
Level 90: Archimonde’s Vengeance – Free passive damage return.
This combo gives you speed, sustain, and zero downtime. You’ll fly.
Glyphs That Actually Help
Most glyphs are cosmetic or situational, but here are the ones that matter:
-
Glyph of Soul Consumption – Heals you when you finish a mob with Drain Soul.
-
Glyph of Healthstone – Turns your candy into a real emergency button.
-
Glyph of Siphon Life – A bit of passive healing every time Corruption ticks.
These let you pull non-stop without worrying about sitting down to eat. Ever.
Leveling Route: Where to Go and What to Do
Let’s talk zones. You can definitely mix in dungeons if you like variety, but if you’re going for speed, this is a reliable route:
Levels 1–10
Stick to your starter zone. Pick up your Imp, kill mobs, and turn in everything you can. Don’t skip your class quest at 10—it unlocks your Voidwalker.
Levels 10–20
Switch to Affliction. Now it gets fun. Head to Darkshore (Alliance) or Silverpine Forest (Horde). These zones have dense mobs, fast travel, and easy kill quests. Just keep your DoTs rolling and let your Voidwalker tank.
Levels 20–30
Move into Hillsbrad Foothills or Stonetalon Mountains. These are loaded with kill quests and tight mob clusters. At this point, you should be pulling 2–3 mobs per pack and keeping health topped off just from your DoTs.
Levels 30–40
Stranglethorn Vale is great XP but can be annoying due to mob competition. If it’s crowded, go Arathi Highlands or Desolace instead. Mount up at 40, and Burning Rush becomes your best friend.
Levels 40–50
Try Western Plaguelands or Badlands. Both have solid quest flow. This is a good time to make sure your wand/staff is updated—spellpower really starts to matter now.
Levels 50–58
Un’Goro Crater or Burning Steppes. Skip Silithus—it’s slow. If you like dungeon grinding, now’s a great time to queue for BRD or Scholomance with a decent group.
Head to Outland Early (58–68)
Outland scaling is generous in MoP Classic. You can start Hellfire Peninsula at 58 and clean up fast. Stay until about 68, rotating through:
-
Hellfire (for the intro speed)
-
Zangarmarsh (super smooth)
-
Nagrand (tons of kill quests)
You can AoE grind like a machine here—Voidwalker tanks, you multi-DoT and win.
Northrend Grind (68–80)
Start in Borean Tundra. It’s flatter and faster than Howling Fjord. Push through to Dragonblight and then Zul’Drak. If you like dungeons, Gundrak is a solid pick.
By now, your Affliction setup is fully online. Use Seed of Corruption for AoE and Drain Soul to keep yourself healed. You barely slow down.
Cataclysm Zones (80–85)
Skip Vashj’ir. Trust me. Go straight to Mount Hyjal—the intro quests are fast, and you can burn through the zone in just a couple hours.
Then move to Deepholm or Uldum. Both are viable. Deepholm has more kill quests; Uldum has better movement and hub flow.
Pandaria (85–90)
Now it gets good. Pandaria questing is fast if you keep moving.
-
Start in Jade Forest
-
Move to Valley of the Four Winds
-
Finish in Kun-Lai Summit if needed
Use Burning Rush between quests, healthstone when needed, and multi-DoT everything. You’ll barely notice the XP grind. At 87, Demonic Gateway becomes a fun toy for skipping terrain too.
Bonus Tips to Speed You Up
-
Rested XP is your best friend. Always log out in inns.
-
Macro Life Tap + Drain Life to recover quickly between pulls.
-
Update your weapon often. Big spellpower upgrades = faster kills.
-
Avoid long escort quests. Not worth the time.
-
Use Soulstone on yourself when pulling elites. Easy insurance.
Final Thoughts
Leveling a Warlock fast in MoP Classic is honestly one of the most enjoyable routes in the game. You’re strong, safe, and rarely need to stop. Affliction handles everything with ease—from quest mobs to elite pulls to dungeon damage.
If you follow the right zone order, upgrade your gear a few times along the way, and stay moving, you can easily hit 90 in 30–40 hours of play—or less if you go hard with rested XP and some dungeon grinding.
So get out there, throw some DoTs, and drain the life out of everything that moves. You’re a Warlock. That’s what you do.
