Diablo IV: Best Sorceress Hydra Build
The Sorcerer or Sorceress has been identified as one of the strongest classes in Diablo IV, allowing for great bursts of damage toward a single target or a group of monsters. This class may be more challenging for those who are not used to constantly changing their position to avoid any major damage, as the sorceress’ class proves to be very squishy with a rather limited health bar. However, if you are a fan of glass cannon classes, Sorceress is definitely the right pick for you. In this article, we will cover our ultimate build choice for Sorceress, the Freeze-consuming Hydra build, and the complementary Aspects you might consider while following this build.

Sorceress’ Crowd Control Playstyle
Impressively dangerous from afar, Sorceress struggles to stay alive while being neck and neck with the enemy; therefore, positioning and perpetual movement around the battlefield is a pivotal factors for playing this class. Although Sorceress is armed with abilities that slow down and kite the enemies, it is essential while playing this class to keep moving in between the attacks. Also, another aspect that requires vigilance is mana management, for this class-specific resource is easily exhausted, and regeneration heavily depends on stats distribution and skill choices. It may take longer for a player to get used to the necessary playstyle, but once you master this class, you will fully control the battlefield.

Core Stats and Sorceress
Diablo IV has four primary stats: Strength, Dexterity, Willpower, and Intelligence. According to which stats you decide to pursue and prioritize, Sorcerer gains additional buffs and bonuses:
Intelligence will increase Sorcerers’ resistances to all elements and also enhance their Skill damage by 0.1% per Intelligence point.
The Dexterity stat boosts the Dodge chance and Critical Strike chance by 0.02% per Dexterity point while also improving the mana regeneration.
Willpower will increase Sorcerer’s Overpower damage and also improves the mana regeneration by 0.01% per Willpower point.
Lastly, Strength increases Armor, helping your Sorcerer to stay protected from potential damage.

Skills For Hydra Control Build
As the name suggests, the dynamics of this build is based on a combination of Hydra skill that dominates in single-target damage and several frost crowd control skills that provide great AoE as well as continual damage over time. If you want to learn about other builds of Diablo IV, feel free to read up on our website.
The skills we recommend for Hydra build are the following:
Hydra skill
This ability summons a 3-headed hydra for 12 seconds, spitting fire at enemies. It can be upgraded into:
Enhanced Hydra. Grants your Hydra an additional head while your character is healthy.
Invoked Hydra. After you strike critically, your Hydra gains a 30% Critical Strike chance for 3 seconds.
Summoned Hydra. Your Hydra also burns enemies for an extra 12% of its base damage dealt over the period of 6 seconds.
Tip: With a combination of Serpentine Aspect, your character gets one extra Hydra, although the overall duration of the Hydra spell is reduced by 23%. This aspect works well as a quick surge of tremendous damage.
Blizzard
This spell creates a positioned Blizzard that deals 37 damage with an extra 18% chilling damage over 8 seconds. The upgrades are:
Enhanced Blizzard. Your Blizzard deals 25% more damage to frozen enemies.
Wizard’s Blizzard. While a Blizzard is active, your core skills cost 10% less mana.
Tip: You can summon multiple Blizzards simultaneously and make them stack, which helps to freeze enemies even faster.

Frozen Orb
Frozen Orb unleashes an orb that chills for 34% damage and expels piercing shards, dealing a total of 9 damage, and upon expiration, the orb explodes, dealing nine damage and chilling enemies for another 9% damage. It can be upgraded into:
Enhanced Frozen Orb. If cast above 50 mana, Frozen Orb’s explosion damage is increased by 30%.
Greater Frozen Orb. Frozen orb’s explosion has a 25% chance to make all hit enemies vulnerable for 2 seconds.
Consider making this spell your main attack, as it helps to freeze the enemies and provides great crowd control. You can increase this skill’s efficiency through bonuses on the gear.
Tip: By putting this skill in the Enchantment slot, you will gain a chance of this skill to be cast for free after using any non-basic skill.
Teleport
This skill transforms your character into lightning and surging onto the target location, dealing seven damage around you upon arrival. The upgrade is the following:
Shimmering teleport. After teleporting, you gain a 30% damage reduction for 5 seconds after coming out of the teleport.
Tip: Although this is an important skill that helps you escape enemies and position your character at a safe distance, you do not need to follow up on the Teleport upgrade if you feel confident with your survivability.
Frost Bolt
Using this skill, your character will throw a bolt of frost at an enemy, dealing ten damage and chilling them for 15%.
Tip: We do not recommend upgrading this skill; it serves mainly as a filler spell to keep the damage coming while regenerating mana.

Inferno
Your character summons a fiery serpent that continually constricts the target area, burning enemies for 92 damage over 8 seconds. The upgrade of Inferno is:
Prime inferno. Inferno now repeatedly pulls enemies to its center.
Tip: This ability is great for nuking your enemies on the spot, as they cannot escape the Inferno’s position.
Glass Cannon
This passive skill increased your damage dealt by 6% and damage taken by 3%.
Tip: With Sorceress’ high mobility, this option for extra damage is worth considering.
Optional Skill: Frost Nova
This ability freezes enemies for 3 seconds. Useful upgrade:
Mystical Frost Nova. This upgrade makes enemies Vulnerable for 4 seconds, increased to 6 seconds against Bosses.

Recommended Aspects
Here are some of the Aspects we selected for this build:
Aspect of Umbral
It restores three resources when you crowd-control an enemy.
Aspect of Control
Your character deals 39% more damage to Immobilized, Stunned, or Frozen enemies.
Protector Aspect
This aspect grants you a barrier absorbing up to 216 damage for 10 seconds.
Conceited Spellbinder
When having this aspect imprinted, your character deals 29% more damage while having an active Barrier.
Aspect of the Deflecting Barrier
While you have an active barrier, there is a 20% chance to ignore incoming direct damage from distant enemies.

Summary
Sorceress is a deadly spellcaster with a great ability to annihilate enemies with powerful abilities while staying at a safe distance. Although there are boundless options and combinations in Sorceress’ Skill Tree, to ensure great performance in lengthy boss fights and against any group of mobs, we recommend a Hydra Control Build that combines bursts of damage with kiting and frost damage over time.
