TBC Anniversary Phase 2 Pre-Raid BiS List for Every Class

Phase 2 of WoW TBC Classic Anniversary brings two of the most iconic raids in Burning Crusade history — Serpentshrine Cavern (SSC) and Tempest Keep: The Eye (TK). Before you can clear Lady Vashj or pull Kael'thas, your character needs to be geared for the challenge.

This guide covers the Pre-Raid BiS list for every major role and spec heading into Phase 2, including which pieces to prioritize, where to get them, and what they'll cost you.

What Is "Pre-Raid BiS" and Why Does It Matter?

Pre-Raid Best-in-Slot (BiS) refers to the strongest gear obtainable without stepping foot in SSC or TK. Arriving in Phase 2 raids properly geared:

  • Increases your personal throughput and survivability
  • Speeds up progression for your entire guild
  • Reduces wipe costs (fewer repairs, fewer consumables burned)
  • Gets you invited to pugs and cross-guild progression groups

With Phase 2 crafted gear being genuinely powerful, many Pre-Raid BiS pieces are crafted epics — which means gold. The better geared you arrive, the less painful your first few weeks will be.

Warrior (Tank & DPS)

Protection Warrior — Phase 2 Pre-Raid BiS

Tanks want a balance of defense cap (490), stamina, and threat generation. Key pieces:

Slot Item Source
Head Felsteel Helm Blacksmithing (crafted)
Chest Felsteel Breastplate Blacksmithing (crafted)
Legs Timewarden's Leggings Heroic Durnholde
Hands Gauntlets of the Iron Tower Heroic Shattered Halls
Weapon King's Defender Heroic Moroes (Kara)
Shield Aldori Legacy Defender Gruul's Lair (BoE)

Gold cost estimate: 800–1,500g (crafted plate pieces dominate this list)

Hunter

Hunters scale hard with Attack Power, Agility, and Hit Rating. Getting hit-capped (142 hit rating) before SSC is critical.

Slot Item Source

Chest Stalker's Chain Armor Heroic Mana-Tombs
Legs Skulker's Greaves Heroic Shadow Labyrinth
Ranged Gyro-Balanced Khorium Destroyer Engineering (crafted)
Trinket Bladefist's Breadth Heroic Hellfire Ramparts

Tip for Hunters: The Gyro-Balanced Khorium Destroyer is one of the best pre-raid ranged weapons available, but requires an Engineering crafter — budget 300–500g for the materials.

Rogue

Combat Rogue — Phase 2 Pre-Raid BiS

Rogues want Hit Rating, Attack Power, and Haste. Sword-spec remains dominant in Phase 2.

Slot Item Source
Head Netherblade Facemask Heroic Mechanar
Chest Netherblade Chestpiece Heroic Botanica
Gloves Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation Heroic Mana-Tombs
Main Hand Blazefury Heroic Ramparts / BoE
Off Hand Merciless Gladiator's Slicer PvP Season 2

Mage

Mages need Spell Hit (202 cap vs. bosses), Spell Power, and Haste. Fire and Frost are both viable in Phase 2 depending on your guild's comp.

Slot Item Source
Head Evoker's Silk Cowl Crafted (Tailoring)
Chest Spellfire Robe Spellfire Tailoring (crafted)
Legs Spellfire Pants Spellfire Tailoring (crafted)
Trinket Icon of the Silver Crescent Badge of Justice vendor

Spellfire Set note: The 2-piece Spellfire set is a massive damage boost for Fire/Arcane Mages. The full 3-piece set (Robe, Belt, Pants) costs roughly 500–900g in materials. This is non-negotiable for serious Mage raiders.

Warlock

Affliction / Destruction Warlock

The Frozen Shadoweave set is the defining pre-raid BiS package for Shadow Warlocks. Pure Destruction locks can skip it in favor of Spellfire-type gear.

Slot Item Source
Head Frozen Shadoweave Hood Shadoweave Tailoring (crafted)
Chest Frozen Shadoweave Robe Shadoweave Tailoring (crafted)
Shoulders Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders Shadoweave Tailoring (crafted)
Trinket Skull of Gul'dan Heroic Arcatraz
Weapon Sunflare Heroic Botanica

Full Frozen Shadoweave cost: 600–1,200g. The 3-piece set bonus adds a significant amount of Shadow/Frost damage — it's a mandatory investment for Demo/Affliction locks.

Priest

Holy / Discipline Priest

Slot Item Source
Head Primal Mooncloth Hood Primal Mooncloth Tailoring
Chest Primal Mooncloth Robe Primal Mooncloth Tailoring
Shoulders Primal Mooncloth Shoulders Primal Mooncloth Tailoring
Trinket Essence of the Martyr Badge of Justice

Final Thoughts

Phase 2 Pre-Raid BiS is dominated by crafted epics from Tailoring, Blacksmithing, and Leatherworking — meaning most of the best upgrades are available right now, no raid required. The catch? They cost gold. A lot of it.

Prioritize your crafted set pieces first (Spellfire, Frozen Shadoweave, Primal Mooncloth, Destroyer's pieces), then fill in gaps with heroic drops and Badge of Justice gear. By the time you walk into SSC, you should feel like a progression-ready raider — not someone who just dinged 70 yesterday.

Good luck on your attuned adventures through Coilfang and Tempest Keep. Vashj and Kael don't die easy, but they die faster when the raid shows up prepared.
