New World: Time To Start The New Winter Event

In this article you can find out everything you need to know about New World's new Winter Event, how to start the Winter Event quest, how to get Winter tokens and even learn more about the Winter Villages and the exclusive items you can earn during this period.
Winter Convergence Festival
It’s that time of the year again where games run seasonal Holiday Events to try and spread the festive cheer. New World is the latest game to board this festive train. New World’s Winter Event, called the Winter Convergence Festival began on the 16th December 2021 and will run through until the 11th January 2022. During this time, you can earn Winter Tokens, which you can use to buy exclusive items. All of this will be detailed later on.
How to start the Winter Convergence Event?
In order to begin the quest that kicks off the Winter Event questline, you will need to visit the Winter Wanderer, a Yet, which can be found in any Winter Village. He also doubles up as the vendor for the Winter Event shop. You will be tasked with recovering memories and stopping the Winter Warriors (evil Yetis who wish to make it winter forever in Aeternum). You can find Winter Villages in the following locations:
• South of Monarch’s Bluff
• Southeast of Everfall
• Northwest of Brightwood
• North of Weaver’s Fen

You don’t need to worry too much about finding them though, as these Winter Villages will be marked by icons on your map. Also, it’s important to note that all Winter Villages perform the same function so don’t stress about which one you need to go to. Anyone will do.
Once you’ve spoken to him, you will begin the quest line which will slowly introduce you to all the event’s offerings. It’s recommended to be at least level 25 to start the quest, but you will have to be level 60 to fully complete it.
What’s new with the Winter Event?
What all does the Winter Event bring with it? Let’s take a look shall we…
1)Tree of Light – The Tree of Light can be found in every Settlement. Collecting the presents underneath the tree will award you with a daily bonus to your REP with the Winter Wanderer.
2)Lost Presents – You can find these all over near the roads. These can be returned to the Winter Holiday Hut in exchange for Winter Tokens.
3)Gleamite Meteors – This event happens only at night. A meteor will drop in from the sky and on impact, will create a few Gleamite Chunks and a few Gleamite Shards. You can collect these using a Pickaxe and it will reward you with Gleamite and Event XP.
4)Decorating Settlements – By completing daily tasks related to the Winter Event, the settlements will change in appearance, allowing you to “decorate” your settlement with festive appearances.
5)Ice Caves – These appear throughout the region and spawn Yeti enemies. If you manage to kill these enemies you will be rewarded with rewards and event XP.
Along with the above additions, new enemies have also been added into the game for the Winter Convergence Event. These are:
• Winter Warriors
• Shivers
• Rimewolves
• Frostgrips
• Frostfangs
How to acquire Winter Tokens
Winter Tokens is the main currency used to buy the Winter Event items and there are a few ways to earn them. Let’s take a look at how you too, can earn them.

• Completing any of the repeatable side quests from the Winter Wanderer will award you with Winter Tokens.
• You can interact with Trees of Light in settlements to receive gifts which you can exchange for Winter Tokens.
• If you see a Gleamite Meteor spawn in, rush over to it. You can use your Pickaxe to harvest Gleamite and then exchange it for Winter Tokens at the Winter Holiday Hut.
• If you recall from earlier in the article, a new addition that came with the Winter Event, is Lost Presents. You can collect these presents while wandering the roads and return them for Winter Tokens.
