MapleStory Classic World Forgotten Hollow Guide: Quests, Monsters & Boss

Forgotten Hollow is a new underground area coming to MapleStory Classic World on November 18. It introduces ten regular monsters, a fairy settlement, several quest chains, and a level 60 field boss, Rotten Mushmom. For players around levels 39 to 60, the area offers new leveling targets and quest rewards worth preparing for.

This guide covers the reported release date, entrance, quest requirements, monster weaknesses, hunting maps, and boss location. Most detailed stats below come from pre-release game data, so check them against the live version after launch. Preparation also costs money, and if you want your Mesos cushion ready before the update, you can buy MapleStory Classic World Mesos on SSEGold instead of grinding the last two weeks in a panic.

Forgotten Hollow Release Date

Forgotten Hollow was not available at the game's October 21, 2026 launch. Nexon's roadmap placed the area in the November update, while community coverage of the MapleStory Fest developer presentation reported November 18 as its expected opening date.

The key reported facts at a glance:

  • Expected opening: November 18, 2026
  • Regular monster levels: 39 to 59
  • Field boss: Rotten Mushmom, level 60
  • New regular monsters: 10
  • Reported quests: 15
  • Future party quest: December 9, level 41 requirement

The November 18 date should be treated as a reported schedule rather than a substitute for Nexon's final maintenance announcement.

How to Enter Forgotten Hollow

The entrance is reportedly located at The Tree Tunnel At the Forest Up North, off The Forest North of Ellinia. Players reach it through the Ellinia questline, which begins with Grendel the Really Old.

After entering the cave, the route to town runs like this:

1. Enter through The Tree Tunnel At the Forest Up North.
2. Pass through Forgotten Entrance III.
3. Travel west through Forgotten Entrance II and I.
4. Continue through Primeval Forest III, II, and I to reach Forgotten Hollow town.

A Return Scroll to Forgotten Hollow provides a quicker way back. Zelya reportedly gives two through the Natural Adhesive quest, and Luma sells additional scrolls for 800 Mesos.

Forgotten Hollow Quest Guide

The reported questline contains 15 quests across four chains, starting at level 39. Completing Welcome to the Hollow unlocks the other main storylines, which can be completed as your character reaches their level requirements.

The four chains and their requirements:

  • Ellinia storyline, level 39, with Grendel and Arwen
  • Zelya storyline, level 39, with Zelya
  • Nyroth storyline, level 45, with Nyroth, Jaime, and Daniel
  • Myra storyline, level 49, with Myra and Grendel

A few monster traits are especially useful to know:

  • Raffles and Rafflesia: Fire weakness. Rafflesia is resistant to Ice and Poison.
  • Aqumander and Echopus: Both are weak to Lightning, making them natural targets for I/L Wizards.
  • Duskmander: Weak to Ice but resistant to Poison.
  • Rotten Mushroom and Sporewood: Both are undead, making Holy attacks effective. Sporewood also regenerates HP.
  • Myewood and Sporewood: Their ranged attacks are reported to deal 125 percent of their base physical damage stat.

These weaknesses can help you choose a better training map instead of simply targeting the highest-level monster available.

Different maps suit different quest objectives and character levels. These locations are particularly useful based on the reported monster distribution.

Higher-level training

For early quests, Forgotten Entrance II and III are convenient because they contain several required monsters. Players working on The Road Back Home can head to Primeval Forest II for Aqumanders and Echopuses.

Higher-level characters can explore the deeper maps for Myewoods, Rotten Mushrooms, and Sporewoods. However, the strongest monster is not always the most efficient target. Consider your damage, potion use, and EXP per hour before settling on a training spot.

Rotten Mushmom Location and Boss Stats

Rotten Mushmom is the main field boss in Forgotten Hollow. Unlike the original level 40 Mushmom, this undead version is reported to be level 60 with 86,400 HP.

The reported boss profile:

  • Level: 60
  • HP: 86,400
  • EXP: 844
  • Physical damage stat: 752
  • Magic damage stat: 827
  • Weakness: Holy and Fire
  • Resistance: Poison
  • HP regeneration: 864 per tick

Where does Rotten Mushmom spawn? The boss reportedly appears in Someone Else's Grave, a hidden map connected to Decayed Tunnel I. Players will need to find the hidden entrance rather than search the regular hunting maps.

What about the respawn time? Pre-release information suggests an interval of approximately one hour, while some player reports put the observed range at 60 to 120 minutes. This is not a confirmed fixed live-server timer.

A few preparation notes are worth spelling out:

1. Rotten Mushmom's HP regeneration makes sustained damage important, so bring enough potions and consider fighting with a party if your gear is average.
2. Holy and Fire attacks are useful, while Poison is largely wasted due to its resistance.
3. Clerics may have an edge because the boss is undead and can take damage from Heal.
4. Do not assume the listed damage stats equal the damage of every attack; your defenses and the boss's attack type will affect the result.

Best Classes for Forgotten Hollow

Several classes have useful elemental matchups in the new area:

  • I/L Wizards: Lightning attacks work well against Aqumanders and Echopuses, while Ice is effective against Duskmanders.
  • F/P Wizards: Fire is useful against Raffles, Rafflesia, Myewoods, and Sporewoods. Avoid relying on Poison against monsters with Poison resistance.
  • Clerics: Heal can damage undead enemies, including Rotten Mushrooms, Sporewoods, and Rotten Mushmom.
  • Warriors: Melee characters should pay attention to touch and ranged damage, particularly when fighting Myewoods and Sporewoods.

There is no confirmed overall class ranking for Forgotten Hollow. Your equipment, build, and ability to clear a map efficiently will matter more than a simple tier list.

Forgotten Hollow Town and Services

The central town is a safe map with no regular monsters, and it covers most of what you need between runs:

  • Nyroth handles quest progression and stands near the Arcane Station.
  • The Arcane Station provides Arcforge crafting.
  • Zelya and Myen are located in the Cave Fairy Sanctuary.
  • Luma runs the Cave Fairy Department Store, with storage access inside.

Luma's shop reportedly sells potions, food, arrows, Subi Throwing-Stars, and Return Scrolls. The Return Scroll to Forgotten Hollow costs 800 Mesos, making it worth keeping a few in your inventory if you plan to travel between the cave and other areas frequently.

How to Prepare for Forgotten Hollow

Before entering the new area, focus on three things:

1. Reach level 39: This is the reported starting level for the Ellinia questline and early Forgotten Hollow content.
2. Save quest materials: Avoid selling every ETC drop. Later quests require items such as Cursed Dolls, monster petals, and Duskmander Tails.
3. Prepare Mesos and potions: Deeper maps contain stronger monsters, and longer fights can increase your potion costs.
