FFXIV Shadowbringers Relic weapon guide

What exactly is a Relic weapon? Is it any good? How can you get your hands on one? You will find these answers in SSEGold's Relic weapon guide.

What is a Relic weapon?

Ok, let’s start off with the basics. What is a Relic weapon? Think of the most powerful weapon possible in a game. That’s it. Jokes aside…Relic weapons might not always the strongest weapons available, but they most certainly are the flashiest weapons your job can get. (And highly sought after by most players.) Most of them have a unique, distinctive glow. If you have ever taken time to watch the intro movie of FFXIV, the weapons you see there are the mighty tools of destruction I am talking about.

Keep in mind though, for the Relic weapon to be at its strongest – you will need to put in a lot of time. And I mean…a lot. Don’t just think that once you have a Relic weapon you are done. No sir. Each Relic weapon has grindy, lengthy quests for you to complete to upgrade it before it reaches its final stage. But once done, man is it something to flex. I remember equipping my shiny Excalibur Sword for the first time back in A Realm Reborn. What a feeling it was. Each class has a specific Relic weapon tied to a respective job. I’ve made a table for your convenience, tallying all the relic weapons spanning from A Realm Reborn through to Shadowbringers. They are in alphabetical order, as follows:

Now that you know what job gets what Relic weapon, let’s move on to how to get it. And in this guide, I will be focusing on the stages of Shadowbringers Relic weapons and the quests tied to each stage. The different stages are: Relic weapon – Resistance – Augmented Resistance – Recollection – Law’s Order – Augmented Law’s Order – Blade’s weapon.

How can you get a Relic Weapon?

To get your first weapon you will need to complete the “Shadowbringers” main scenario quest and the side quest “The City of Lost Angels.” You will also need to then complete the quests:

▪“Hail to the Queen”
▪“Path to the Past”
▪“The Bozia Incident”
▪“Fire in the Forge”

Each version of the Relic weapon has some sort of objective tied to it. Some are lengthy and will require you to put in tremendous time and effort (SSEGold.com is a place to help you optimize the game time, buy FFXIV Gil).

The very first thing you want to do is to get the Augmented version of your weapon and to do so, you will need to complete the “Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty” main scenario quest and the “A Sober Proposal” and “Where Eagles Nest” side quests. Be sure to have your Resistance weapon with you. Make your way to Zlatan (can be found in Gangos) and pick up the quest “For Want of a Memory.” The next step will have you collecting the following:

▪ x20 Tortured Memories of the Dying
▪ x20 Sorrowful Memories of the Dying
▪ x20 Harrowing Memories of the Dying.

Once you have collected these, turn them in.

Now that your weapon is Augmented you will want to turn it into a Recollection weapon. Visit Zlatan in Gangos and pick up the quest: “The Will to Resist.” You will now be required to turn in x6 Bitter Memories of the Dying. These can be found from completing level 60 dungeons.

Next, you will want to turn your Recollection weapon into a Law’s Order weapon. This will boost its level to 510. This is where it starts to get very grindy. The next step requires you to hit Resistance Rank 10 in Bozia. This will take some time. Once done you will be tasked with completing the Bozia dungeon, Castrum Lacus Litore. Once you are victorious you will need to complete the following side quests:

▪“A Sign of What’s to Come”
▪“Fit for a Queen”
▪“In the Queen’s Image”

Now head back to Zlatan and pick up the “Change of Arms” quest. You will need to obtain x15 Loathsome Memories of the dying and hand it in to Zlatan.

Now that your Law’s Order weapon is complete, the next stage is to obtain the augmented version of your Law’s Order weapons. This will boost its level to 515. You will need to pick up the side quest: “The Resistance Remembers.” You will need to turn in x18 Haunting Memories of the Dying and x18 Vexatious Memories of the Dying. With these in hand go ahead and accept the quest “A New Path of Resistance.” You must now collect and turn in x15 Timeworn Artifacts.

We are finally there. The last step to obtaining the Blade’s weapon. The Blade’s weapons are level 535. You will need to start up the “Futures Rewritten” main scenario quest and then complete the side quest “A New Playing Field.” After this you will need to visit Gerolt (Can also be found in Gangos) and start the “What Dreams are Made of” side quest. This will open up 3 quests:

1)“Spare Parts”
2)“Tell Me a Story”
3)“A Fond Memory”

This is another very lengthy step. To complete the quests, you will need to collect the following:

▪ x30 Compact Axles
▪ x30 Compact Springs
▪ x30 A Day in the Life: Battles for the Realm
▪ x30 A Day in the Life: Beyond the Rift
▪ x30 Bleak Memories of Dying
▪ x30 Lurid Memories of the Dying

Whew. What a task. Not few games out there will task you with collecting so many items. Once done complete the quests “A Done Deal” and “Irresistible” (These Relic weapons sure are, otherwise we wouldn’t be out here grinding for them.) You will need to collect x15 Raw Emotion. Once collected go ahead and turn them in.

You are now finally done with your weapon!

Now that you know how to grind for that powerful, majestic looking weapon – will you be doing it? If I can give one piece of advice…don’t rush the quests. They are lengthy and tiresome. Rushing the quests will have you burning yourself out and you will be turned away by the game. Pick up the quests and play the game as you normally would. (Except the parts that require you to do specific things.) This will have you collecting items you may need in further steps, whilst enjoying actually playing the game.

Don’t forget, you can also buy FFXIV items, power-leveling and tons more, safe and fast, right here.
