How to enjoy FFXIV - an outstanding MMORPG
As we all know, FFXIV is an outstanding MMORPG with gorgeous graphic, visual effect, vivid animation, fantastic story, etc. Final Fantasy XIV has basic content you'd expect in an MMO but with much better quality deserving of the sub.
As for catching up, it isn't really difficult and a new player can get up to speed in about a few weeks or so, or if you skip all the unimportant dialogue content you can catch up in about 3 or 4 days barring any possible side story. As for the upcoming expansion, you have to be caught up in the story to access a large portion of the content, but other than that you can make use of the new race throughout your playthrough of 2.0s stuff.
Crafting is also a big portion of the game and is much more relevant here than in most other MMOs as the crafting system allows you to do stuff like repair your own equipment or affix buffs to em as well as crafting a large sum of vanity items for either your char, your friends, or your house (which is usually owned by a Free Company which is FFXIV's version of guilds, with guilds in the game being used in the European version of the term to signify craft-homes AKA the place you get your base class quests from. As for why houses are usually owned by free company, it is that they are generally expensive costing up to millions of FFXIV Gil, the in-game currency, and most regular players generally tend to not generating that much unless having dedicated savings as well as crafting big-time items over a few months.)
Aside of that, the battle system is amazing, When taking on the job system to it, it makes each job (basically an evolved class) feel very unique in how they play and each job's intended skill rotation is radically different from that of another. Not only that, but the new releases in the upcoming expansion which include an unlocked level cap to 60 also have new skills for each job to further differentiate one from another and specify what role it has in a party.
Anyways, to sum up everything, FFXIV is an expansive MMO with really deep lore and a ton of features that can keep you busy for thousands of hours, the main story of the game can be speed run rather quickly up to the current patch before the expansion on the 23, and there's a ton of content in-between the cracks currently for those interested in hardcore raids and fights with high-end gear to those who wanna play on the slightly more casual side (but can still get hardcore) with the intuitive crafting system in the game.
As a not though, once the expansion - Heavensward -releases, most of the high-end content will be replaced for both battles and crafts with new stuff coming on in a few weeks after the launch. These updates include an updated and more individual-focused crafting system, a brand new raid setting that launches 2 weeks after the expansion is live, and then a savage mode of that same raid sometime after the normal raid is live. Other than that the game has constant updates every couple months or so and after a year or so, if you missed any event items (probably not including titles though) from previous years, they tend to be re-released during the same event the year after on the optional cash shop. So if you missed out on some goodies, you can still nab em. For what it's worth, FFXIV is a game well-worth the premium of a monthly sub. You even get veteran bonuses for the amount of days you've paid for your subscription, and it's effective immediately meaning you don't have to wait it out so long as you paid for that many days worth of sub. Not only that, the sub isn't too costly being only 15/m after pricing for a copy of the game and expansion and not including extra things like more retainers for larger storage and whatnot. Aside of sub costs, you can also purchase a world transfer service which allows you to switch servers if you don't like the one you're on or you find friends who are based in another, though it costs 20$ so you may wanna choose wisely when starting out (I'd recommend doing research.) Anyways, other than that Final Fantasy XIV is simply outstanding. You may also like:
