How to Choose A Race in Final Fantasy XIV
As many new players of Final Fantasy XIV feel difficult to choose a race in game, I write this guide for beginners to know how to choose a race in FFXIV.
The Race System is quite popular among Final Fantasy fans, it is a system full of Japanese style. As all races are perfectly designed, you may feel frustrated when choosing a race.
Playable races is divided into Hyur, Roegadyn, Elezen, Lalafell and Miqo'te. Each race has two separate clans which have separate histories in the lore. A new race called Au Ra will be brought with the releasing of Version 3.0 Heavensward. At that time, I will update a guide about Au Ra.

The Roegadyn are concentrated in the northern seas by way of which they came into Eorzea, therefore they are maritime people. They have strong muscular and physically large and high. They came from the northern regions and consist of Hellsgurad and Sea Wolves. Once the Sea Wolves were a band of fearsome pirates, but they are now largely employed as naval mercenaries or sailors as they have abandoned pirate lifestyle. On the other hand, the Hellsguard settle down in a volcanic region and considered to be the masters of magical arts, guarding the gateway to Hell itself.

Lalafell were a group of agriculturalists dwelling in the fertile islands of the south sea. They are physically diminutive humanoids of high intelligence and agility. They consist of the Dunesfolk and Plainsfolk. The Dunesfolk live on the backs of enormous beasts of burden and are well known for wearing gemstones in their foreheads that signify their zodiacal signs. While the Plainsfolk is a very earthy clan living on the prairies.

During the Age of endless Frost, there was an influx of foreigners to Eorzea’s shores because seas froze into ice, which makes pass through possibly. Miqo'te are devout people consisting of the nocturnal Keepers of the Moon delicated to the moon goddess Menphina the Lover and theSeekers of the Sun dedicated to the sun goddess Azeyma the Warden.

Based on the above chart and my illustration, you are now clear about how to choose the race you like to be!

Hyur
Being the largest population in Eorzea, the Hyur came from adjacent islands and continets in three great migratory waves. The Hyur is a race that is human at least. They consist of the Highlander and the Midlander Hyur . The Highlanders are physically larger and bulkier than their Midlander cousins, and once they governed the grand city-state of Ala Mhigo, which was invaded and razed by the Garlean Empire. And they now eke out their existence as mercenaries as their homeland were destroyed and population were decimated. While the Midlanders emphasis greatly on education and usually considered to be the most well educated cultured people of the word.
Roegadyn
The Roegadyn are concentrated in the northern seas by way of which they came into Eorzea, therefore they are maritime people. They have strong muscular and physically large and high. Elezen
The Elezen are the original inhabitants in FFXIV and are quite naughty. In former times, they claimed as sole domination over Eorzea and predated of other races. But now they become traditionally nomadic people. They consist of Duskwight Elezen and Wildwood. The Duskwight is a reclusive clan dwelling in caves and caverns, which has give them a heightened sense of hearing. The Wildwookd settle down in the forests and possess a keen sense of sight which is a important factor which make them become unparalleled expertise as archers. These two clans seem to dislike each other.
Lalafell
Lalafell were a group of agriculturalists dwelling in the fertile islands of the south sea. They are physically diminutive humanoids of high intelligence and agility. They consist of the Dunesfolk and Plainsfolk. The Dunesfolk live on the backs of enormous beasts of burden and are well known for wearing gemstones in their foreheads that signify their zodiacal signs. Miqo'te

Not only is appearance the difference among different races, but also the stats are. You can refer to the below chart to get a basic understanding of each race in FFXIV and subrace and their corresponding stats.
