Botanist traits / skills
Botanist traits and skills are exactly the same as mining traits and skills. They only affect different types of nodes (Mature Trees and Lush Vegetation for Botany). The only exceptions are the three level 20 skills. In the case of Botany, these skills affect the gathering of lightning, fire and water shards/crystals/clusters.
Botanist Leveling: 60
Upon reaching BTN 61: You unlock Impulsive Appraisal II, which gives you a scaling chance based on Perception (relative to the node requirements, I feel) to activate Discerning Eye. It’s main purpose is to break the “softcap” of appraisal on nodes you HEAVILY outgear. A great quality of life skill, and gives a huge incentive for Botanists to tryhard on their gear.
Botanist Leveling: 61 to 62
First of all, hitting L61 unlocks quite a few nodes! But before that – the gear upgrades start! If you do NOT upgrade your gear, then I cannot vouch for the effectiveness of this guide, or how painful the process will be for you going forward.
Botanist Leveling: 63
This tier does NOT unlock any new collectibles, so I’ll just put the same references.
Botanist Leveling: 64 to 66
Kudzu Vine is the godlike gather here. It’s another SOLE COMPONENT levequest item for Weaver. Pine Lumber is the same, but for Carpenter.
The above is best if you yourself are leveling DoH. Botanist item prices can vary wildly, so if you’re doing it for profit it’s best to snoop around.
Botanist Leveling: 66 to 68
In this tier, there is a special way to grind, which yields some good profit on the side. And that’s Ephemerals and Aetherial Reduction! Doman Yellow Desynthesizes into Dusklight Aethersand, which is quite profitable.
The cycle goes something like this:
6AM Beech Branch > 8AM Doman Yellow > 10AM Bamboo Shoot
6PM Beech Branch > 10PM Bamboo Shoot
Botanist Leveling: 68 to 70
There’s another ephemeral node in this tier (it’s unlocked in previous tier, but the level difference may make it less than optimal).
Get your L70 DoL Gear (Serge tier)
FARM RED SCRIPS FOR REGIONAL FOLKLORE TOMES AND MATERIA.
Gather yellow scrips for the MAIN HANDS. Other pieces optional.
Meld only enough to comfortably gather, overmelding without knowing the true endgame CAN BE DISASTROUS.
